Broadspire CMO Contributes to Occupational Disability Handbook

Planation, Fla. (August 15, 2006) – Dr. Jacob Lazarovic, chief medical officer for Broadspire Services, has contributed to a 536-page compilation of studies that concern the occupational injury claim industry. The Handbook of Complex Occupational Disability Claims is the latest in a number of publications that have called upon Dr. Lazarovic over the past several years to provide expertise in medical management.

The Handbook of Complex Occupational Disability Claims, published by Springer Science+Business Media, addresses nearly 30 occupational disability-related topics and utilizes the expertise of 36 contributors from four countries. Dr. Lazarovic, along with Dr. J. Mark Melhorn and Wanda K. Roehl, contributed “Do We Have a Disability Epidemic?,” which analyzes emerging trends of occupational disabilities and identifies associated financial impacts from the perspectives of employers, the government and injured workers.

“Dr. Lazarovic’s contribution to this impressive book is a tribute to his occupational injury expertise and evidence of the respect that he has among his peers,” said Dennis Replogle, Broadspire’s president and CEO. “The value that his knowledge adds to this book is consistent with the remarkable level of value that he brings to our organization and most importantly, our clients.”

Dr. Lazarovic joined Broadspire, a Platinum Equity company that is a premier provider of casualty claim, medical management and integrated disability management services, in 1999 after holding several senior medical management positions with HealthAmerica, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida and Vivra Specialty Partners.

Dr. Lazarovic, a board-certified family physician licensed in Texas, Florida, California, Connecticut and Kentucky, attended medical school and completed residency training at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. He practiced family and emergency medicine prior to entering into full-time medical management. In addition to his recent contribution to Handbook of Complex Occupational Disability Claims, Dr. Lazarovic has published extensively on the topic of medical management issues.
